In an era where appearance, physical features, and beauty quotients are considered the supreme qualities, everyone out there is struggling to get the flawless skin selfie. And then regretting it after posting on social media because the pictures were not up to the mark, as they compared their skin in the selfie with someone else's. The hunger for likes and validation from viewers has made everyone ignorant about the real issue of skin concern. 

Following a skin care routine for a day and then expecting perfect-spotless skin, that’s not going to happen. Your skincare routine can only work if you’re consistent with it. A skincare routine is becoming increasingly critical to maintaining a youthful glow. In college, it may seem that keeping a routine every morning and night to care for one’s skin can be challenging and expensive, but in reality, it can be inexpensive, easy, and fun.

There are times, as a college student, when your skincare routine is the last thing you will want to be complex and time-consuming. Every minute is very important. The motive behind sharing this post is to help you gain healthy and glowing skin. This is the minimum you can do with a simple morning and night skincare routine. A skincare routine can be simple, quick, and effective if done the right way.

Here are Top 7 Steps Skincare Routine That Every College Student Must Follow:

  1. Cleanse

Cleansing is arguably the most important step in a morning and evening skincare routine. Throughout the day, impurities and pollutants accumulate on the skin’s surface, which we need to regularly remove in order to avoid congested pores. Our skin is habitual of creating build-up as we sleep, so it’s just as important to cleanse your face both morning and night. Choose a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser that does not contain any harsh chemicals. Wet your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips to apply cleanser. Resist the temptation to scrub your skin because scrubbing irritates the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

  1. Exfoliate

By exfoliating your skin, you can help remove old, dead skin cells to reveal the healthy, new skin underneath. Almost any area of your body can benefit from exfoliation from your lips to your feet. Although dead skin cells should flake away when new cells are created, sometimes they hang around. This can make your skin appear uneven, blotchy, or dull. An exfoliant doesn’t have to be expensive to be effective. In fact, many natural products that are considered as natural exfoliators are already in your kitchen.

Some popular natural exfoliants include:

  • Baking Soda
  • Finely Ground Sugar
  • Coffee Grounds
  • Finely Ground Almonds
  • Oatmeal
  • Finely Ground Sea Salt
  • Cinnamon
  1. Hydrate

Our skin needs water to get its strength and elasticity. In other words, to look and feel healthy. We've got a built-in barrier to hold water. That’s why a hydrated complexion looks more plump, healthy and youthful. Having an adequately hydrated face will help to improve skin elasticity, which will reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, hydrated skin also helps to combat oiliness. In this case, Aloe Vera is the best to go with. It has healing and hydrating properties, making it an ideal choice for dry skin thanks to its much-needed moisturisation. After cleansing your face, use your fingertips to apply a small amount of the gel to your face. Gently massage the face with the Aloe Vera using a circular motion, covering all the skin. Rinse with cool water and gently pat dry.

  1. Massage

The fourth step in this process will be massaging your face to help the blood flow for facial rejuvenation. This is an anti-aging process as it increases blood circulation in your skin that reduces the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, acne, and the scars that are caused by pimples. Massaging your face with essential oils gives a soothing therapy to your skin. Take a few drops of essential oil in your palm and, with your thumbs, starting from the forehead down to your chin, massage your skin in circular motions clockwise and anti-clockwise. This movement helps boost the production of elastin and collagen, which prevents as well as cures sagging skin. Skin care experts advise having a facial massage at home 2-3 times a week. However, gentle massaging every day for 5–10 minutes does no harm to your skin. It would only give your skin a glow and suppleness.

  1. Treat

The next step in the process of skincare will be "treat". It is critical that we treat our skin well and provide it with the nutrients it requires. Applying serums at night and during the day will take your skin care routine to the next level. In the daytime, if you've got dry skin, wash your face and pat it dry, then layer your skin with a serum that satiates the skin's thirst for nutrition. Allow a few minutes for it to settle. You will gradually notice an improvement in the quality of your skin after consistent application.

  1. Moisturize 

A moisturiser creates a barrier between your skin and the climate, from cold wintry days to the dry air of summer. Moisturizing also helps to rehydrate and enhance the capacity of the skin to hold water. Moisturizing every day can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Both extremes are harmful to the skin and cause common skin conditions like acne.

Also, begin using under-eye creams when you are younger, as the eyes and surrounding area are the most delicate part of the face, with sensitive skin that usually begins to show early signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and fine lines. So it becomes important to protect this skin the most. Start applying gentle eye creams from college days.

  1. Sunscreen

There is no denying the fact that one beauty product you can't go without is sunscreen. Choose sunblock creams or lotions according to your skin type, but do not leave the house without applying ample amounts of it on your face and other exposed parts like hands and feet. Reapply sunblock cream every few hours if you are out in the sun for longer.
